Looking for lost 2003  contacts I came across this poem about Medellín, <br /><br />&quot;This is a fortified city, surrounded by mountains; upon lifting one’s head and looking around, one sees only the blue mountain line and far away peaks, on the brim of a broken wineglass…and at the bottom of the wine glass the tough enclosed city,”.  - José Manuel Arango<br /><br />Shortly after this time &#039;03, I _gladly_ returned to the Huon Valley - and then had done full circle 5 years later Glen Huon surrounded by mountains and fog feeling so gladly fragile and far away.<br /><br /><img src="images/img_5152.jpg" width="400" height="300" border="0" alt="" />]]></description>

			<description><![CDATA[So apart from Summer fun I&#039;ve had my first teaching gig as a Lecturer in<br /><a href="http://moddr.net/~sister0/digital_media/" target="_blank" >Intro to digital media</a> at Tasmanian School of Art _Spring School.<br /><br />Was quite a challenge to get ppl away from the screen and to thinking about the  tools and how Free and Open Source software provides to artists and designers - beyond just free alternatives to established tools from<br />Photoshop to Final Cut..<br /><br />Tried to encourage a lot of them to keep online process journals. And use the Internet ie. whose infrastructure is based on free software and open standards - is an obvious example of such an adaptable, collaborative artistic medium. <br /><br />]]></description>

In keeping with the OSS remix culture, <a href="http://www.linux.conf.au" target="_blank" >linux.conf.au</a> 2009 is partnering with contemporary artists to mix and remix the complementary ideas of two communities.<br /><br />&quot;Batteries Not Included&quot; is a participatory contemporary arts project that will combine the arts with linux.conf.au. It is wide in its focus - from the environment to architecture to music (and its copyright) to spirituality to code (under the Artistic licence, of course) - it needs one thing, your input!<br /><br />CHECK it out <a href="http://www.mediadivination.net" target="_blank" >HERE</a> and have a divination. It is widely regarded as one of the world&#039;s best technical conferences, and this year it will be held in one of the most unique locations, and my home base for the first time.<br /><br />starting on Monday January 19th going through til the 24th. The main programme starts on Wednesday January 21st 2009 and runs through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
