MY AVATAR Alternate reality game – WORKSHOP.
My Avatar' is a workshop led by Nancy Mauro-Flude, where participants are invited to dream up their avatar, their online virtual representation. It uses a range of material including old 8-bit digital technology & hardware that brings the 3D objects to life, away from the screen. Taught alongside this is an applied and a broader understanding of online digital-media processes, techniques, including how to sculpt & custom online software platforms; and how this relates back into the physical space.

This was presented by the Moonah Arts Centre as a part of the Works Festival, Glenorchy, Tasmania, Australia.

NOTES : )
Looking at ways to take actual and virtual worlds and extend systems of human and computer progression, remapping space local to virtual
- Give a talk about other public interventionist projects ie invader, STREETART passage and other public interventionist projects that link online/offline worlds.I.e. GRL and especially their LED throwies
- As a group make an image stencil, or some kind of icon that is meaningful to the person.
- We as a group go for a walk near the MAC a space opens up for that person- place it in that space. picture it momentarily.

- Take a photo - put it online – I will have made a project blog already
[Involves how to convert a digital image - resize, upload to Internet and have a group blog online posting texts / images/ comments]

Website:
Photos with short text from participants. they are
interconnected with other the texts and images.

Then we make a big MAP I R L [in real life]

Duration: 5 hours
Age: 10 - 15
Group Size; max 12

Materials:

Hardware:
[I haven’t put amounts as long as there are 1 or 2 we can work it out ofcourse more the better and I will bring my own equiptment too]
Digital cameras
Computer connected to the internet

10x sets of LED Graffiti Magnets : or what ever you can afford! [see pdf attached]

SOFTWARE: [just need internet and computers that connect to internet]
We will make a website and I will connect it also on http://www.tumblr.com/ so if some of the kids want to make their own there is an option for that…

NOTES:
Instead of making tiles around the MAC – I think regarding city council it may be a bit controversial I thought of these LED Graffiti Magnets instead people can make their own tag/ or some such with out too much FUSS for the argument of graffiti that may get MAC into trouble about promoting such an Act. ;)
So I want to use these instead or alongside to some things I will bring
LED Graffiti Magnets we will make them and place them around they last for about 48hours ☺
