#Bag Lady (2008)
This project is a bag with a computer embedeed in it that is programmed to stream on the fly audio and video up to a server and on to a website. It was made specifically for 'Make Your Mark (2008)'
a mobile art-studio where the people of can place their most beautiful or fondest memories literally on the map [in this case of Gouda in Neltherlands]. The visitors are therefore invited to collectively create a mobile art piece or “memory capsule” of Gouda [collaboration with V2_ Institute for unstable media]

April 2- June 10 VIENNA. As a part of my MQ residency at SUBOTRON I have been researching a performative accounts of someone who evoked game references, in a creative mêlée, by picking up ready made pieces of consumer capitalist wreckage and playing with them _for real_. In my study of form in the props and dramatic action, related to video-Game culture, I highlight repetitive, ritualistic and quasi-mythical elements by paying careful attention to logos, costume, colors, flags, hierarchy, tools in the dramatic use of objects such as; the crowbar, the dead red roses, the drill and the flag. Some otherwise, known as mêlée weapons. The result of this is the 'Resist, she Said'. Game-mod / Installation/

Many post-bourgeois artists were trying to bring the art back to the people not as a handy service (as it is to the bourgeois elite art consumer) but as a form of irritation. They created many forms of street theatre and pranks. If you are not willing to be on the front line and hold the street up for a day on the barracades like this work referrs to but want to learn more, go to Maker Faire Bay Area 2008!

Every Friday in March and April VIENNA
I hold an interface design open studio at SUBOTRON More info and gave a Talk with Walter Langelaar about CUSTOM BUILT INTERFACES AND GENDER we talked about game-interfaces in general, or game ‘operation’, but the very different ways people approach joystick mods and we discuss this as a complex and serious subject of gender and interface also giving some hilarious examples from ‘the scene’.

REPORT
On the outset of the work shop Sam Nemeth Erik van Zuylen proposed:
'In the project 'Good Morning Mr. Orwell' of video artist Nam June Paik, shown on the 1st of January 1984, dancer Merce Cunningham danced with his mirror image that was broadcasted via satellite and projected back what resulted in a delay of approximately one second. The waag wokshop and project will use an installation inspired on Paiks’ work. The image of the dancer will be streamed over the internet and projected. The mirror image will become a dance partner that will force the dancer to improvise. '

again Moddr_ made a suscessful nite at WORM this was for an eve theme of [t]error24th of May. I helped curate a [t]error evening at WORM among other projects invited, I conducted an interview with Jake Appelbaum, who along with Roland Jankowski we asked questions about Hacking in Iraq.
Interview is very information about the recycling of military technology into the urban landscape, that potentially transforms its architecture, literally and psychologically.

I am a developer of the /etc and this year will be giving talk and assisting a workshop on diy porn with jessie darlin'
hacking the aesthetic to reclaim the gaze through a renegotiation, a reclamation, of our own technologies, and to subvert the objectified nature of the form by becoming our own spectacle. "Porn" is a bad word, but we believe that all words ought to be open to hacking -- open-source, if you like, free for use by all !
/eclectic tech carnivial The /ETC is a unique tech skill-share that has been held annually since 2002. The emphasis has always been women sharing their experiences, knowledge and skills around free software, open hardware.

DexM Project - @ Critical Path

I'll be the second resident for 2008 with collaborator, media artist Walter Langelaar. In addition to the residency Nancy and Walter will be presenting their work DexM.

Through a workshop they invite participants to experience the multifaceted nature of perception with real settings in virtual and augmented game environments. While making use of dance, moving image, videogame technology and augmented reality tools, characters go through motions of change and transformation in relation to the performance space; its surfaces and its depths. The DexM project elucidates the experience of fragmentation we encounter in contemporary modes of existence. In a classical 3D virtual game-space we embed the formal 'documentary real-time' affect a webcam supposes, with fictional and subjective elements such as intimate gesture, and location changes spurred by the narrative reality of the performative event. The live performer acts in relation to human interface devices and objects that have specially designed tracking through augmented reality techniques, using fiducial marker patterns in order to highlight the interrelation between costume, computational interfaces and the performance space. In addition Nancy will host an information session on artist run spaces and residency spaces.
