A leading dietitian has revealed exactly what she would be buying as she browses the ‘natural food aisle’ at the supermarket.

Sydney Mum Rebecca Gawthorne, better known as Naturally nourished on Instagram, shared a video with his 150,000 followers outlining his recommendations.

The shelves in this aisle are filled with products deemed “healthier” compared to others, including sugar-free chocolate, low-carb carbs and protein powder.

But there are things Rebecca would avoid.

Sydney mum Rebecca Gawthorne, better known as Nourished Naturally on Instagram, shared a video detailing exactly what she would buy and avoid when browsing the ‘health food aisle’

Rebecca picked up a bag of toasted pumpkin seeds first, then a packet of sugar-free cookies and compared the two.

She says pumpkin seeds are “high in healthy fats and a good source of nutrients like magnesium and zinc” and highly recommend this purchase.

For comparison, the chocolate chip cookies were “over-processed” and she would prefer a “regular cookie without all the additives.”

“Then we have virgin coconut oil. It is a high saturated fat health product and I prefer to buy other oils as my main cooking oil,” she said, adding, “I wouldn’t buy this regularly.

She then chose a mix of dry-roasted nuts which are a “great source of healthy fats” and contain plant proteins, including iron.

Rebecca recommended this purchase.

A third asked what oil she would suggest, to which Rebecca replied, “Extra virgin olive oil is a great choice for the majority of you cooking at home.”
