Luxury fashion brand Loewe launches Spirited Away collaboration

Fashion is subjective, but I think we can all agree that Abducted as if by magic is a fantastic subject for collaboration. Studio Ghibli’s 2001 Oscar-winning masterpiece stars Chihiro, a young girl who finds herself trapped in a public bathhouse for the spirits and must find a way to save her parents. Luxury fashion brand Loewe has abandoned its Abducted as if by magic Today’s themed capsule collection, which offers a whole range of whimsical products at luxury fashion prices. This is the second Studio Ghibli capsule collection from Loewe.

Loewe’s collection is rightfully beautiful, featuring the cast of the beloved animated classic across a variety of items and materials. The line is playful, like the website’s first internet fantasy – if you dig a little deeper, Yubaba’s Shikigami will follow your mouse. Most of the drop has already been used up.

In addition to this biker jacket, No-Face appears on a variety of black leather handbags (where his face appears to float, distinctly against the background), clothing, and even a pair of slippers. Other lovely non-human characters are spending their time in the sun, with the soot sprites appearing on cardigans, purses (including a bag that looks like a soot sprite), purse suspenders, and even a bucket hat. Bigger players, like Aogaeru the Frog, also get a few features.

Chihiro is, of course, one of the recurring characters. She’s featured on a range of shirts, sweaters, bags, and even blankets – from psychedelic, multicolored oversized shirts to more subdued black embroidery on cream-colored knits. Some of the funniest designs take a famous movie frame and give it a full-bleed treatment on t-shirts, button-down shirts, and hoodies.

The film is an icy classic. I can’t afford any of these clothes, but I can afford to watch the movie again – which I plan to do this weekend.
