Softball Ends Hosting Duties With Chanticleer Showdown

CONWAY, South Carolina – The Coastal Carolina softball team (5-5) will host its final tournament of the 2022 season Feb. 24-27 as the Chanticleers host Central Michigan, Dartmouth, Maryland, Monmouth and North Carolina A&T at St. John Stadium for the Chanticleer Showdown.

Tickets
Tickets for Thursday’s contest (Coastal v. Monmouth) will cost $5. For the remainder of the tournament, fans can purchase tickets for $15 per tournament day. To purchase tickets, click here or visit the stadium ticket office on match day.

Last outing
The Chanticleers staged the 2022 Battle at the Beach from Feb. 18-20, hosting Fordham, Marshall and enemy-of-the-state South Carolina. CCU ended the second week of play 2-3.

Coastal opened the tournament beating Marshall 4-3, in a win from behind after The Herd had scored 3 points earlier. CCU then allowed just three hits to defeat Fordham 4-0. by Riley Zana a three-run homer late in the sixth inning gave CCU a 3-0 lead before at Maddy Jennings hit his second home run of the season in left field to secure the final run.

Last time out of opponents
Central Michigan

The Chippewas competed in the WKU Hilltopper Classic in Bowling Green, KY from February 18-20. Middle Michigan beat Bellarmine twice and fell to SEMO and West Kentucky.

After finishing the 2021 season 20-28 overall and 18-20 in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play, the Chippewas were chosen to finish seventh in the MAC preseason poll.

Maryland
In the second week of play, Maryland competed in the Spring Games at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Florida. The Terrapins finished the weekend with a 2-3 record and beat No. 17 Missouri 1-0 on the final day of the tournament. .

Maryland finished the 2021 season 19-25 overall and 19-25 in Big Ten play. The Big Ten did not do a 2022 preseason poll.

monmouth
The Hawks entered the Spring Games at Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex in Leesburg, Fla., going 1-4 over the three-day event. Monmouth beat North Carolina on Saturday, 2-0.

Monmouth finished the 2021 season 25-9 overall and 25-7 in MAAC play. Monmouth was chosen to finish third in the MAAC coaches pre-season poll.

NC A&T
North Carolina A&T enters the weekend 6-4 overall, dropping contests to Robert Morris, Howard and George Mason. The Aggies take on foe North Carolina State on Feb. 23 before heading south.

North Carolina A&T finished the 2021 season 11-31 overall, going 10-6 in MEAC play. The Aggies were chosen to finish 10th in the MEAC preseason poll.

4:30 p.m. – Monmouth v Dartmouth
7 p.m. – Maryland vs. Dartmouth

Sunday February 27
9 a.m. – Dartmouth vs. Central Michigan
11:30 p.m. – NC A&T vs. Maryland

2 p.m. – Coastal Carolina vs. NC A&T
