La Femme en Noir, the gothic-style fashion house based in Los Angeles, composed of designers and co-founders Micheline Pitt and Lynh Haaga, in partnership with Warner Bros. “You kept your promise, you set me free – now I can do the same for you …” Inspired by Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. This ethereal dress is what dreams are made of! Emily’s transformation into a whirlwind of butterflies inspired this beautiful confection. Polka dot tulle in vintage pastel blue is generously gathered into a dress with custom designed 3D butterfly appliques dancing around the dress.
“You can kiss the bride …” Inspired by Tim Burton Corpse Bride. A tribute to our favorite character, the Emily shoulder bag is full of ethereal charm. This vegan bag features an intricately embroidered die-cut face with curls of pearly jasper blue hair and a butterfly print lining.
“Victorian fashion, mist-shrouded cemeteries and supernatural romance… Which film would best suit the aesthetic of The Woman in Black? Tim Burton’s vision aligns in many ways with our design philosophy, ”says Lynh Haaga, co-founder and designer of La Femme en Noir,“ so we jumped at the chance to dive into his visual world. Corpse Bride is loved by animation fans, lovers of the Gothic style, and anyone with a bit of dark romance in their hearts – we number ourselves among those people. Emily is playful, ethereal, and magical, so we really took a look at her image and style for dresses and accessories. But Victor’s character is just too avant-garde and era-specific to ignore, so we’ve created a fun version of his classic adornment. We’re excited to bring these new designs to our loyal fan base.
“Tim Burton has always beautifully and meticulously created unique worlds and characters for his films, Corpse Bride is no different, ”continues Micheline Pitt, co-founder and designer of La Femme en Noir. “The collection of endearing characters in this dark gothic romance of stop-motion beauty has brought to life La Femme en Noir’s most unique collection. Using the color palettes, artwork, and other elements of the characters, we took the costume designs of the Victorian era and modernized them.
By mixing the 1800s with elements from the 1930s and 1960s, we wanted to create pieces that were both timeless and vintage. Emily the Corpse Bride was really the focal point of the collection. We wanted to capture her beauty and personality in great detail. Whether it’s the moment Emily bursts into butterflies at the end of the movie, or her gorgeous wedding dress, facing herself like a beautiful vegan bag. We hope new and old fans of the film will enjoy this collection of premium pieces for many years to come. ”
