Luxury footwear label Manolo Blahnik teams up with Birkenstock on a capsule collection to fuse its signature embellishments with the German brand’s everyday comfort.
The Manolo Blahnik for Birkenstock collection reimagines classic Birkenstock styles with the regal design embellishments that Blahnik is known for, with the first pieces launching March 24, with a second release due June featuring new styles.
The first drop features three styles of Birkenstock Arizona sandals, crafted in fuchsia and blue velvet, as well as black leather, all embellished with crystals on the buckle, as well as velvet and leather versions of the Birkenstock Boston clog, also embellished with crystals.
All styles will be packaged in an exclusive polka dot shoe box and special dust bag, in the traditional Manolo Blahnik design.
Commenting on the collaboration, Manolo Blahnik said in a statement: “Birkenstocks have been in my wardrobe since the very beginning (of time!!). I have loved and worn mine for many years. I am delighted that we were able to collaborate, merging the Manolo Blahnik aesthetic with the everyday comfort of Birkenstocks is just wonderful!
The collab comes after Blahnik and her niece, Kristina Blahnik, the footwear brand’s chief executive, starred in Birkenstock’s Spring/Summer 2020 campaign where the pair were pictured at the brand’s first store on Old Church Street in London wearing their own pair of Birkenstocks.
Kristina Blahnik said: “Birkenstock shares both core brand and design values just like our own and it has been a joy to bring this to life in the new Manolo Blahnik collection for Birkenstock. Timeless, high quality designs, made to be cherished and enjoyed, that’s what we set out to create and I’m delighted with the result.
Birkenstock Managing Director Oliver Reicher added: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Manolo Blahnik, whose unrivaled craftsmanship has long set the bar for shoemaking. This is a unique collection, fusing our signature designs with the flair of Manolo Blahnik, to create pieces that embrace a bold, directional aesthetic that takes both to a new level.
The first version of the collaboration will be available from March 24 at Manolo Blahnik stores, his website, 1774.com and other selected retailers worldwide.
